Chris Arnold

A Cum Laude graduate of Harvard University where he was an actor and a director in theater, Chris chose to do his post graduate work at the London Film School where he received a Master of Fine Arts degree and discovered his love of film editing. He went on to work in the British Film and Television Industry as an editor cutting mainly documentaries that appeared on the BBC and ITN. His short documentary film “Sheila” about a Transsexual “Busker” living on the streets of London won acclaim on English Television and the short documentary award at the Chicago Film Festival. Moving back to America Chris became one of the leading producers and editors of motion picture trailers and founded Cimarron Productions (now the Cimarron Group) which would grow to become the largest Motion Picture Advertising company in Hollywood. There he would oversee the creation of more than a thousand trailers, TV spots and “Behind the Scenes” documentaries for all the major studios on such films as Excalibur, Home Alone, War of the Roses, Basic Instinct, Nightmare on Elm Street, Ghostbusters, Unforgiven, Mrs. Doubtfire, Edward Scissorhands and Terminator 2 to name just a few. In 2000 Chris departed Cimarron and motion picture advertising to pursue longer form productions He founded his company RoseWorks to produce Martin Cruz Smith’s best selling novel “Rose” with a script by Ted Tally (Oscar Winning writer of Silence of the Lambs) and director Mike Newall and sold the package to Harvey Weinstein at Miramax where it was slated for production prior to the Weinstein’s split with Disney. In 2001 he produced “Frozen in Fear” starring Eric Roberts and Rod Steiger, which was later sold to HBO and had a theatrical release internationally. In 2005 he produced, directed and co-edited his documentary feature “The O Tapes” which Premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival and was picked up by SHOWTIME and The Movie Channel. In 2010 he edited “Bare Knuckles,” a narrative feature about the female fight game that was released in 2011. Now with TRANS he returns as both director and editor to his roots and his first love—documentaries. Chris is a member of the Editors Guild, The Publicists Guild and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Scientists and currently lives in the Hollywood Hills in California.
